The 7th Annual Kalamazoo Bike Week was a success. The weather was generally good and attendance at the events was great.  Thank you to all event organizers, volunteers and attendees - we had great fun.

Planning for Bike Week 2019 (May 11-18) began in June 2018 -- and more than ever, will encompass events across Kalamazoo County.  If you want to share an idea, help plan, make an announcement or organize an event during Bike Week, please contact Paul Selden at info@bikefriendlykalamazoo.org.

The last public planning meeting in 2018 is scheduled for October 25, 2018, 4-5pm at the Portage District Library (Austin Lake Room), 300 Library Lane, Portage MI 49002.  If necessary, we will also meet as a group in 2019, with dates yet to be determined. After that most of the planning and implementation of the great ideas we surfaced throughout our meetings held during the summer and fall of 2018 will be in the hands of our wonderful individual event organizers. We may be able to accommodate additional events and announcements up to about four weeks before Bike Week begins.

Please watch this page for additional updates.

Kalamazoo Bicycle Film Festival

Bicycle enthusiasts will be gathering May 16th for the 7th year of the Kalamazoo Bicycle Film Festival’s “Bike Shorts” program. This program is a collection of short films that celebrate bicycles and the culture that surrounds them. Each one is 12 minutes or less. The films feature a wide spectrum of experiences, stories and images of bicycling. Some will make you laugh. Some will make you think. The common theme is that they are all for, about or inspired by bicycles. The final line up of 20 – 25 films will be determined after the April 17th entry deadline. The films originate from the United States and internationally.

The “Bike Shorts” program will be presented during Kalamazoo’s Bike Week at Bell’s Eccentric Café located at 355 E Kalamazoo Ave, Kalamazoo, MI 49007. Show times are 6:00 pm (all ages) and 8:15 pm (21+). Tickets will be sold at the door for $5. Bring cash for bicycle themed merchandise such as film festival posters, stickers and t-shirts. More program and entry information can be found at KalamazooBicycleFilmFestival.com.
